Description:

Freedom House ha publicado su informe Libertad en el Mundo 2023. Con este informe de carácter anual, la organización no gubernamental ofrece una clasificación de los países más y menos libres del mundo. Según el informe de este año, 2022 fue el 17º año consecutivo de disminución de la libertad a nivel mundial. Ciudadanos de 35 países experimentaron un deterioro de sus derechos políticos y libertades civiles, mientras que los de 34 experimentaron mejoras. Sin embargo, en la edición de este año se constata que el mundo podría estar dirigiéndose hacia un “punto de inflexión”, ya que este ritmo de descenso se está estabilizando.

Esta clasificación de los países según su grado de libertad se realiza en base a una puntuación agregada de derechos políticos y de libertades civiles, que determina la condición de libre, parcialmente libre o no libre de cada país o territorio. Freedom House determinó que, en 2022, 85 de los 210 países y territorios evaluados (el 40,5%) eran libres, 58 (el 27,6%) parcialmente libres y 67 (31,9%) eran países sin libertad.

En 2022, según el informe, los países considerados como más libres han sido, por este orden, Suecia, Finlandia, Noruega, Nueva Zelanda y Canadá. Al final de la lista figuran Corea del Norte, Eritrea, Turkmenistán y Sudán del Sur y Siria, que cierran la clasificación siendo los países con menor libertad del mundo.
