Description: Internationally disputed areas, territories, maritime territories, and border claims by non-state separatists have been manually digitized and geocoded as 652 separate entities with up to 5 'Contestors' each. In instances in which claims overlap up to three 'DisputeRegions' are included to make their contiguous borders filterable. Area, demonyms, territory type, international recognition, autonomy status, inhabited status, casualty status, the state with de jure if not de facto control, and the area's contesting authority (the name of the military or political movement/party/group most representative in any instance of a dispute, or the governing body currently arbitrating the matter).
The map is a work in progress and there are errors.
