text1 (type: esriFieldTypeString, alias: Glasgow City Council's Active Travel Strategy 2022-2031 sets out the concept of a City Network to provide a dense network of high-quality protected cycle lanes and improved pedestrian infrastructure across Glasgow, to be delivered by 2031. The network is aiming to link services and facilities across multiple neighbourhoods, providing easy and safe active journeys across Glasgow for everyone.
Glasgow City Council is working together with its consultant team to progress the Connecting Greater Govan section of the City Network to developed design by the end of April 2025. To streamline planning and design, routes have been grouped into two packages. We will be engaging on each route package separately.

• Two-way cycle tracks designed to protect cycle users from traffic
• One-way cycle tracks designed to protect cycle users from traffic
• Mixed traffic streets, where cycle users would mix with traffic
• Step-free crossings and pavement buildouts at some junctions, to slow traffic, enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists, and aid those with mobility issues
• Upgrade of existing pedestrian crossings, and in some places the installation of new crossings
• Parking changes: Some informal places would be formalised, while others would be removed for the new cycle track. Alternative parking would be provided where possible
• Converting existing two-way streets to one-way streets. Changes include a section of Burghead Place, Peninver Drive, a section of Moss Road and Water Row. One-way streets would be introduced to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety
• Junction changes, including a junction priority change at Arklet Road/Nimmo Drive and replacement of a mini-roundabouts with a cross roads junctions at Arklet Road/Langlands Road/Crossloan Road and Tormore Street/Daviot Street/Meiklewood Road/Berryknowes Road
• Cara Drive and Mambeg Drive would be closed to traffic at junctions with Langlands Road
• Minto Street would be closed to traffic at junction with Jura Street
• Burleigh Street would be closed to traffic, becoming a shared space area. Loading access would be retained
• Bus stop bypasses and bus boarders would be introduced at various locations, meaning pedestrians would cross the new cycle track to access the bus
• Placemaking improvements, including opportunities for additional planting, seating and improved public realm
